Email Marketing 101: Why It's Crucial For Business Success

Many small businesses struggle to understand the basics of how and why email marketing works. The truth is that email is a powerful marketing tool that provides the highest return on investment (ROI) of any other digital channel. It offers a direct line of communication with your audience and it’s less likely to get lost in the ever- changing world of social media.

It is also one of the most scalable channels that you can use to reach your audience, and you can build and nurture audiences through it with consistency, which is difficult to achieve on other platforms.

The biggest benefit of email is that you can stay in direct contact with your audience at all times. Unlike social media, which can be subject to algorithm changes that can change how your content is displayed to users, emails are more likely to show up in their inboxes and remain visible for as long as the user is subscribed. This gives you a steady stream of warm leads and customers that can be nurtured with relevant and targeted messaging.

You can also stay in contact with your audience through regular news and updates, which is a great way to keep people aware of what you’re up to. This could include a new product launch, sales, or any other important information you’d like your audience to know. It’s also a great channel for thought leadership, providing informative blogs and resources to help your customers with their problems and challenges.

Email is a highly measurable channel, with metrics and KPIs that are easy to track and interpret. For example, the number of opens and clicks you receive will give you a good idea of how well your campaign is performing. You can then analyze the data and use that knowledge to improve future campaigns.

In order to increase the number of clicks you receive, it’s a good idea to test the content, design, and visuals of your emails. You can also experiment with different subject lines to see which ones drive more clicks, and try a variety of Call To Action (CTA) options to find out what resonates with your audience.

The best way to measure the success of your email is to look at your conversion rates. This will tell you how many of your subscribers clicked through to your website or store, and can be used as a guide to determine what kind of content is most effective for driving traffic and sales.
